Speakers will include:

  • The Honorable David L. Borowski, Circuit Judge for Milwaukee County, presently assigned to Milwaukee Children’s Court
  • The Honorable Thomas P. Donegan, Circuit Judge for Milwaukee County, presently assigned to Milwaukee Children’s Court
  • Father Paul Hartmann, canon lawyer, Judicial Vicar of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Pastor of St. Aloysius Parish, West Allis, Wisconsin, and Chaplain of St. Thomas More Lawyers Society
  • E. Michael McCann, Milwaukee County District Attorney
  • Matthew J. Mitten, Professor of Law and Director, National Sports Law Institute, Marquette University Law School.

    In addition, a partial mock trial will be demonstrated by Gordon P. Giampietro and Jonathan H. Koenig, Assistant United States Attorneys, U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Other attorneys will participate and interact with students during the day.

    Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

    First Friday - May 5 - "Catholicism, the Law, and the Military"

    Our First Friday speaker this month will be Attorney Stephen J. McManus who is a partner in the Elm Grove law firm of Nowakowski & McManus, LLP. Steve's practice area is civil litigation with primary emphasis on worker's compensation, military defense and professional licensing. Steve served in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corps and currently is a member of the Air Force Reserve. He will speak on "Catholicism, the Law and the Military".

    First Friday Mass will begin at 7:30 A.M. in the Chapel of the Holy Family located on the 2nd floor of the Marquette Memorial Union (15th and Wells). The Mass is followed by the presentation and discussion above from 8:00 - 9:00 A.M. over a continental breakfast (suggested donation $4.00) in Room 305 of the same building. Parking is available on Wells Street or in one of the nearby campus lots.
